4th National Coal and Thermal Power Gathering at Korba, Chhattisgarh, 29-31 July 2016

The gathering was organized by the conglomeration of Environics Trust, Mines Minerals and People and Saarthak Foundation in Korba which is known for its coal mines such as Gevra- one of the biggest coal mines of Asia as well as other mining areas like Kusmunda and Dipka. This Gathering was in continuance of the earlier gatherings held in Gaare, Chhendipada and Dumka. The objective of the gathering was to bring together the communities affected  by the coal minings and thermal power plants, listen to the issues faced by them, and to up lift their efforts in this struggle. In this coal Gathering, over 200 participants from 14 states of the Country arrived and extensively discussed about the conditions of their areas. There were discussions on the laws, policies, politics involved and sharing of information by the communities.
